A network audit tool, built in the open since 1998

Open-AudIT tells you what is on your network, how each device is configured and when that changes. It started as a sysadmin's answer to a simple question: what do we actually have?
Founder Mark Unwin still leads development. The code is AGPL-3.0, written in PHP, Bash and PowerShell, so any sysadmin can read it, change it and send a fix back.
Community contributors have translated it into German, French, Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese. Open-AudIT is part of FirstWave, which also offers the Professional and Enterprise editions.
How Open-AudIT Works
Open-AudIT is for advanced network discovery and monitoring. With a single command, it scans your environment and identifies every connected device: servers, laptops, routers, switches, IoT devices, and more. It gathers detailed data such as configurations, software versions, patch levels, and user activity, compiling it into clear, searchable reports. Whether you're managing a few dozen devices or thousands, Open-AudIT brings your network out of the shadows, giving you full visibility without the hassle of manual tracking or guesswork.
Data is collected via a Bash script (Linux) or PowerShell (Windows): no compiled agents, no black boxes. The entire application is written in PHP, Bash and PowerShell, making customisations quick and easy for any sysadmin.
Available in multiple languages
