Basically, when you audit a machine it differentiates the software packages by version, name, and publisher, and etcetera. Is there a way to simply consolidate?

For instance, we want to know how many MS Office distributions we have (we know how many we have, but this is just an example). We are not really interested in the 10 different version because someone got an update and the others didn't. We just want all of the versions to show up under one name.

It would be nice to then click on that to see what versions are what and who has it and so forth. Is this available or will it be out there? And if not, should it be a feature request?

In short, no, because for example Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Acrobat 6.0 and Adobe Acrobat 7.0 may or maynot be the same thing.. or one may be Adobe Acrobat reader and one Adobe Acrobat full product, only a human can tell in some cases. However you can export the software list from ...

List all Software with Hosts

to a csv file, and use a little Excel and a bit of brain power to figure out what is the same software and what is not.

Hope this helps....

This will be handled by the licensing feature, currently under development. I believe you will be able to group multiple items into one heading.
