Hi all,
Can we have a documentation section added to the web site?
It can have the following sections.

FAQ
Installation procedure
Setting up audit clients for Windows, Linux, Domains, LDAP etc.
Operations and trouble shooting, if Audit can not be run, what may be the causes and the possible remedy.
Maintenance , How to clear the history etc.
Known Issues , solutions or work arounds.

I know that this information is scattered on the web site or the BB, but having it at one place will be desirable. Most of it may be just a copy paste from the existing information.

Regards,
Deepak

Unfortunately it hasn't been updated for OAv2...
In OAv2 you can look at Help -> FAQ for some info.
Yes, I need to write some documentation.
If you have time, write it, post it here and I can include it.

I am still a nubee and myself finding out how do I start auditing the Windows and Linux clients from the Linux OA and OAV2 servers. I want to try out bot the versions. Can anybody point me to this information please?

Can I have a base inventory of hardware and software say today, and track changes to h/w and s/w
in future comparing with this base inventory? Is this feature available? if it is, then in OA or OAV2?

I will contribute the documentation once I know about the software.

Regards,
Deepak

You can't. See this thread - http://www.open-audit.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=5792 for how to audit Windows machines.
Can I have a base inventory of hardware and software say today, and track changes to h/w and s/w in future comparing with this base inventory? Is this feature available? if it is, then in OA or OAV2? OAv2 is the closest to doing this. If you view a system, there is a section titled Summary -> Alert Log. This displays a list of all item's that have been detected as "changed".

I can see what you want and it should be possible, but it doesn't exist at the moment. It shouldn't be difficult just time consuming to code up. I'll put it on the list.

Please don't multi-post questions (same question, different threads).
