For those that don't know, I live in Brisbane, Australia.
Australia's third largest city.
The capital city of Queensland.
We are currently about to experience the largest flood in over 100 years.
75% of the state (https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/Queensland) has been declared a disaster zone. That's about 1,297,986 square kilometers - or double the size of Texas or three times the size or Germany. Under water or badly affected.
The authorities are shutting down power to the CBD today in preparation for tomorrow.
Obviously I'm not going to work for the rest of the week (at least).

Fortunately, my house and family are perfectly safe.
You never know, I might get some coding done !!!

I don't know if that's a good thing or not. If it was me I'd probably be so distracted there wouldn't be enough brown paper bags.

I hope everyone stays safe and any damage is limited.

Damage = in the billions I think (well, hundreds of millions, at the very least).
Floods now cover an area greater than the area of Germany and France combined !
We got back into our building yesterday.
Our building was fine, but we had insufficient power to allow non-essential (that's me) personnel back.
No-one I know was hurt, although some people from work had their houses flooded.
On the whole, a terrible for a lot of people. People died and people lost homes. Personally, I thank the stars nothing bad happened to me and mine.
It will take years to repair the damage and they are saying some area's simply may not be rebuilt.
Thanks to everyone sending wishes.

Wow that is terrible news. I did hear about it over here but didn't realize how bad the flooding is. Glad to hear you and your family are ok.
