Hey all!

I stumbled on Open Audit and thought it would be very useful for our needs. We have a good 400-500 Windows machines, roughly 30-40 Linux servers, 3 Cisco routers and a ton of HP switches. I would like to use OA for our network but I am not sure if we can. Getting the web service up and running was cake but I don't know were to start in order to get this to scan our entire network. I can scan individual PC's by clicking on admin Audit my Machine, but this is far from efficient and is basically pointless for our needs. As far as I know we don't use active directory or LDAP. Do I have any other options for using this tool and if so what are they? I appreciate any input at this point I am at a total loss and will continue to search the forums. Hopefully someone has some solid input to get myself going in the correct direction. Again thanks for any input provided.

Thanks,
Adam

Can anyone help me figure out how to use pc_list_file.txt to be read when running audit.vbs? We don't have AD or LDAP. Also any ideas on when I run audit.vbs why its not loading to my server. It says it loads to the server but nothing shows.

XML sent to server using ServerXMLHTTP: 200 (OK)

Can you examine the database itself ?
Are there any entries in there ?

pc_list_file.txt just enter all the IP's or Hostnames of your computers, followed by two commas ,,

pc1,,
pc2,,
pc3,,

As long as you are logged in with a local account that exists on all remote systems, is the same username and password, then you can audit all of these systems from here.

Audit.vbs: edit the this_config_url setting to point to your OA instance

Audit.config: edit the following settings to point to your OA instance
Audit_host
ie_form_page
non_ie_page

Audit.config: Set the following to no in order to audit the pc_list_file systems (instead of auditing the windows domain)
audit_local_domain = "n"
