Am looking at writing the linux audit script in Python.
What are people's thought's on this ?
Do you linux machines all have Python installed ?
It is by default on most new distro's.

Thoughts / Comments ?

Sounds like a great idea. Either Python or Perl. Which is more portable...I dunno. Writing the script using shell scripting is just a pain.

I suspect python would be a better bet rather than pearl, 'cos the majority of distros have it, (even minimalist firewall type distros like ipcop and endian ).

Pearl has its plus points though.. both will be easier to write in than bash I would think.
