I would love to see a link to delete a system when viewing a system's initial page. It would add a lot of convenience to decommissioning systems. The bulk delete is great, but sometimes I'll be browsing and find one I want to remove. I then have to wait for the entire list of a thousand machines to populate and find the one I want to delete.

I think this would be a good idea, as a further refinement it might be good to be able to mark the system as decommissioned and thus not have it appear in the lists, but still be available for historic purposes.

I couldn't agree more.
So, maybe options for "Decommission this system" and "Delete this system from Database" ?
Then, a new query for decommissioned systems?

What happens in the case of a system that maintains an IP address and hostname, but the hardware is upgraded? Would this change the UUID and create 2 entries, of which one could be decommissioned, or have you already worked around this?
