Before seting up Open-AudIT, MySQL needs to be setup for use.
I am assuming you have MySQL Administrator installed, and know how to start it.
Using MySQL Administrator, do the following:
- Logon using the root user.
- Click "Catalogs" in the main list
- Right click in the database listing, select "Create New Schema"
- Give the Schema (database) a name (openaudit works well)
- You should now have the schema (database) listed with the others on that server. If not, right click, as before, and click refresh
- Click "User Administration" in the main list
- Right click in the user listing, and select "Add new user"
- Fill in (at least) the fields "MySQL User", "Password" and "Confirm Password" - these are the values needed for setup.php later.
- Click the "Schema Privileges" tab
- In the Schemata listing, click your newly created database
- In between the "Assigned Privileges" and "Available Privileges" listings, click the button "<<". This assigns all privileges to your new user, on your new database.
- Click "Apply Changes"
- If you are using PHP4
- Click "Startup Variables" in the main list
- Click the "Security" tab
- Check the "Use old passwords" box
- Click "Service Control" in the main list
- Click the "Start/Stop Service" tab
- Click the "Stop Service" button
- Wait for the server to stop, then click the "Start Service" button
You have completed the MySQL setup stage.
Now proceed to setup.php in your web browser.
