Post subject:  how to detect required office patches?

Hallo,

I use MBSA (not hfnetchk) to detect required OS patches.
How can I detect that Office patches need to be applied?
I have MBSA 2.0 installed.
The windows update web site can check office, but offline?

MBSA 2.0 & 2.01 Can check for missing Office patches!

You need to use the MBSA command line interface (mbsacli.exe) and you also need to download the offline catalog file.

from M$:
Q. What kind of paths can I use with the /catalog (offline catalog file) command-line parameter for a local scan?
A. You must copy the catalog file to the local computer before attempting the scan and supply a local path to the file.

I believe you can download Windows Server Update Services for free. That would pretty much do what you want. You also then control which updates are applied to computers and when. Pretty nice.
