just an fyi- possibly incorrect info at this page right now: https://community.opmantek.com/display/OA/MySQL+hints or else I'm doing something wrong

"Linux -

mysql -u root -popenauditrootuserpassword "

I couldn't connect (ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' )

so I checked the config file and found that the mysql user is openaudit and the password is openauditpassword

user: root, pass: openauditrootuserpassword is used if the setup defaults are taken.
The application itself does not need 'root' level access to MySQL, so we create a separate (lower) user for that.
If your root user has a different password, then that was set by you upon installation :-)

I never changed any passwords so not sure why root doesn't work here, but using openaudit user solved it for me
