Hello,

After installing OA, and trying to open community, I get this error:
A Database Error Occurred

Unable to connect to your database server using the provided settings.

Filename: C:\xampplite\open-audit\code_igniter\system\database\DB_driver.php

Line Number: 124

Check that the MySQL service is running. The Windows install of OpenAudit should work without further configuration.

Yes, It is running. And port 80 is open for Apache. I'm a little flumoxed - I'ver install OA several times on different PCs without a problem.

You could use another SQL query tool to check that MySQL is working. Database settings are in "C:\xampplite\open-audit\code_igniter\application\config\database.php". See if the server, username and password as defined there work.

Or even
mysql -Dopenaudit -uopenaudit -popenauditpassword
Does that connect?

Remove and reinstall?

So, I uninstalled 12.8.1 and installed 12.4. OA works fine. Installed 12.8.1 and after the install I get the database error. Tried to start MySQL from the command line - no go even though the service was running. Did some Googling and found a suggestion to add localhost to the hosts file. MySQL is now working as is OA. Weird. I don't recall having to do this on my other installs.

I recently encountered this in development. For some reason connecting to localhost no longer worked. I changed the configuration in database.php to use 127.0.0.1 and it's fine. This is now the default shipping config. What a PITA.
