Hello!
How can I change "hostname" in "System Details"?
I have IP number, and I would like to change on user-friendly hostname.

Log in as a user with "Edit Details" access level on the appropriate Group.
Go to the Group list page.
Click the device you want to change (it's hostname).
In the System Details page, the hostname should be blue.
Any items that are blue can be changed.
Click it, change it, click somewhere else on the page (the update happens when the control looses focus).
Done.

What affect would this have on the name_match option?

If the only thing you are matching on is the hostname and you change the hostname then it won't match.

It really depends on how the data is getting into OA. If you're using the "audit" scripts and not running "discovery", you should be fine. The audit scripts use better criteria (UUID, etc) to match a device. If you're running Discovery and all it brings back is a hostname you will likely create a new device (this would occur if the device ONLY responds to Nmap and is not in DNS, etc).

FYI - I am coding a new Discovery engine that will run Nmap -> SNMP -> Audit Scripts from a Windows or Linux Open-AudIT server against any device matching having the required ports open. Look for it in the next release.

I log as admin, go to list group, select network, select device, and still can't change "Hostname" :/

What type of device is it and what version of Open-AudIT are you running?

Version 1.0.3
Type: general purpose.

I can change "Hostname" only if "Type" is computer.
When scan network with nmap, all discovered device are stored in database as "Type: general purpose"

Yep - I can now see that. I'll try to get the fix in the next release.

The version I am working on is much improved in this area.

Ok, i solved this problem so:

1. change "Type:" from "network_printer" to "computer"
2. change "Hostname" from IP to description device
3. return to "Type" "network_printer"
