Is there a feature list anywhere for OAv2? I'm looking for something that I can add custom fields for a system, so I can use OAv2 for asset management as well. I know OAv1 had a manual data section with a few fields like asset tag, but I didn't see any way to add additional fields.

Also, is there any way to query or set properties using a REST (or similar) API? That way I can use curl to set a custom field value for a system.

Thanks
John

I just downloaded OAv2 and it looks really nice. What's the 'custom' section for? Could I add custom fields to that section?
I also noticed that search doesn't seem to work for hostname. I inserted the bulk data for testing. There's lots of hostnames that begin with system, but if a search for system or even system-10 returns 0 results.

Yes and yes. I have to document this... It's on the list.

You could call
http ://server/ index.php/ ajax/ update_system_man/ system_id/ fieldname/ value
(no spaces in the actual URL) - but you somehow need to be "logged in" to OAv2 (as an OAv2 user with level 7 access to a Group that contains this system). OAv2 uses cookies to record your login. Not sure if CURL can cope with that (I've never used CURL).

Note that you should only set fields in the system table that begin with man_ . Other fields are designed to be written into by the audit script(s). The web pages in OAv2 display the man_ values, not the script input values.

This enables OAv2 to keep a record of what it retrieve's from the PC (or other device), and also allows the OAv2 user to "overwrite" that value - keeping both values... Initially, if man_ is empty, OAv2 will populate it with the retrieved value. From then on, it won't overwrite it.

This sounds great. It seems like the simple and straight forward asset management tool I've been looking for. I can't wait for it to be finished. :)
