I'm new to the software and I'm having an awfully hard time getting things working. The FAQ's don't make sense to me. I'm experienced but I keep having to guess at everything. Is there a 1.2.3 step through to get this working?

Right now I don't understand why I would configure audit.config when I've done it in the web interface or if I have to. I don't understand what the LDAP setup is for if it doesn't work. I don't understand if I need to modify the audit.vbs. And on and on......

So far I can audit a pc if I run the audit.vbs manually but I can't get the anything to under the Audits configuration. It took a while to find the fix for mySQL so I could actually save an Audit configuration but it still doesn't seem to work.

I run the Audit with a pclist and I don't see a log telling me it doesn't work, I don't see processes starting on the remote system and I don't get any results.

If somone would help me get this thing working I would gladly support Open-Audit with a detailed installation document. Please help me ObiWan your may only hope.

Do you want to run off a list or are you trying to get it working with your active directory.

If you want to get it running with AD then this is the post you want:

I went back to the last version. That took out all the new stuff so it wasn't quite as confusing.

I was trying to do a domain audit and was putting stuff on a share but couldn't get the config script to run properly. I found out I had two issues.

The first issue was I was running on an IIS box with multiple sites. The XMLHTTP update was failing so I bound an IP Address to the site I created. This ensured that the XMLHTTP requests were getting to the right site.

The second issue I had was that when launching the VBScript it would enumerate all the systems in the domain but wouldn't actually audit. I found that I had to specify the full path to the vbscript in the audit.config.

Changed this: script_name = "audit.vbs"
To this: script_name = "\\server\Software\OpenAudit\audit.vbs"
