You are not trying to use https: on a server that doesn't support https?!

This might result in some strange results.

Nothing in the logs.

Is this an issue with PHP5? I'm using the latest build from php.net.

I installed both MySQL5 and PHP5 on a 2003 Small Business Server. Configured IIS for php, which it's obviously processing php, so I know that's up right.

I've never used the pre-buit XAMPP packages, but have setup this up before (winventory) without any problems.

Thanks for all the suggestions so far.

Check you have the mysql php extension module loaded. This was the problem that morganma had.

If your webserver is on windows it may be a simple as uncommenting the line
;extension=php_mysql.dll
in your php.ini file.

Then restarting your webserver

Ooops :? No problem its always the simple things that catch us out, Ill post this as fixed.
Hope you have no more probs. We should really put in a few more checks at setup time. (We have a thread open about this in the DEVS forum, so look out for this soon, too late to save you from all this head scratching though).
