We just got a MS Select agreement with our last set of server purchases, and as such, we don't have any corporate licenses yet. We have just been using individual licenses purchased as we get hardware in. Would it be feasible to have a way to enter licenses manually - ie for Office 2000, where you can't pull the key from the registry (or at least I haven't found a way yet)?

We just use a spreadsheet for this now, and it would be nice to be able to get rid of that.

That is pretty much how it is working right now. You have to enter all licenses manually. Perhaps we can import some items from the cd key register... Although, once you are up to date on entering licenses, it should be really simple (just the initial start might be painful!).

I hadn't tried that in OA, and in Winventory, I thought I had tried and it wouldn't let me add a key manually (I have slept a few times since I tried it). :?

The license tracking feature is currently not completed, but it is progressing. You can't manually add cd keys. When tracking is done, you could add the cd key to the license in the license tracking. I don't know if it's a good idea to manually add cd keys to the list, unless perhaps we make another list, for manual input?

What if you could add a field for it in the manual data on the system summary? It would even be helpful for XP keys because, with Gateway at least, they have a single key when you use their install that is different from the sticker on the box.

Well, you can (soon) add notes to each computer. I have that close to ready. So is that a good enough place? I was also thinking, perhaps we could add 5 custom fields to the computer summary, and then you could label them as you like?
