Mark,
We found out we could create QR Codes with an URL linking directly to the computer page in OAv1. We have been printing these QR codes and sticking them to the computers and it has been incredible helpful for tech support folks out in the field specially since everybody has a smartphone these days. On OAv1 we can find any computer with the QR code pointing to server\system.php?pc=(UUID). Can you envision a way for us to do something similar in OAv2?
Thanks

What about a URL that is http://server/index.php/main/system_dis ... LD_GO_HERE ?
Or do you have to have the URL the same format?
I've had nothing to do with QR codes, so I'm not sure how they work.
If it HAS to be http://server/system.php?pc=(UUID) I think we could use .htaccess (under apache) to remove the need for index.php but I'm not sure what CodeIgniter would make of the URL.

So - can we change URL format or do you need to keep it the same?

Your suggestion for URL would be fine, as long as we can have an unique URL to identify each piece of hardware within OAv2 (thinkin of UUID since that's what we used in OAv1), we can then generate QR Codes with those URLs and print labels for the computers. The goal is to be able to trace the computer to an inventory record with the latest audit, or in the event of multiple records, which we call history, then show all records related to that machine.

I think Apache mod_rewrite can change old style http://server/system.php?pc=(UUID) to new style http://server/index.php/main/system_display/UUID_WOULD_GO_HERE therefore I think it is safe to change the URL format. And since Open-AudIT already uses mod_rewrite, it should just be a question creating a RewriteRule.

Thinking more about this, I would like to be able to create an entry in some kind of system non IT inventory: Like power cord extenders, chairs, but also USB thumb drives, internal hard drives registered with their barcodes and/or a QR code we print and label the device with. The system should be Open-AudIT because then I could link the hard drive directly to the computer system it was used inside.
