I updated my Open-AudIT SVN repository and I am planning on moving the files to my server.

My question is, will it break things in the currrent version? Also how do I know what database tables need to be updated? I looked at the SQL file and it will drop the tables first then recreate them. I don't want to lose the current information.

Thanks

If you are moving from one server to another, backup the database (using phpmyadmin or whatever), restore it to the new server (this will preserve all of your audits).
Once you have done this, install OA, and set up with a MySQL user that can see the database. When you run the setup, tell it not to delete the current database.
Then update to the latest SVN version, this will preserve all of the current tables, and add in any new ones.

Remember... You can never have too many backups.

I copied the newest files to the server and when I run setup, even though I leave "Delete database if it exists" unchecked this is the result I am getting:

Connecting to the MySQL Server... Success!
Dropping existing database... Success!
Creating the database... Success!
Creating the user... Success!
Granting user priveleges... Success!
Switching connection to new user... Success!
Creating tables... Success!
Writing configuration file... Success!

Notice that it drops the database even though I left it unchecked. Really glad I have a backup :D

Strange, I have done this many times, and had no problems.... I frequently re-install my SVN copy attached to my working copies database for testing, and so far have never lost the database... (better not tempt fate too much :? )

Which version were you using? Did you try the release candidate on the Sourceforge download page?

We are using Version 08.10.09

I did not try the release candidate. I use SVN and copied the files to our server. Is there any scipts I should check on. I assume that the submit script is not registering the fact that I did not check the box to overwrite the database.

Thanks.
